FROM THE PERFUMER
Music is essential to life. I grew up in a home filled with the blues—my father is from Chicago. When I was nine, I attended a summer camp on an island. There, older punk kids introduced me to bands like the Misfits and the Pixies. One of those kids, by the way, was the comedian Rob Delaney.
That summer was all about the album “Doolittle”: the provocative lyrics, Frank Black’s distinctive voice. For me, all of that was intertwined with the heat of summer, the humid August air, and my first young romances.
