A sarong is basically a large cloth that can be wrapped around the body in a variety of ways to serve as a cover-up. Sarongs are usually made of light, comfortable fabrics and feature colorful, summery patterns. They’re ideal for walking to the beach or poolside bar, since you can quickly and easily throw it on over a bikini or swimsuit.
Sarongs are a wonderful alternative to beach dresses. Their flowing materials such as silk or light cotton-silk blends wrap around your body and make you feel incredibly comfortable. At the same time, small problem areas such as a small belly or slight bulges on the thighs or buttocks are discreetly concealed. You can always create new looks with a sarong since it can be worn in many different ways. Here are our tips for the best wrapping techniques:
Sarong as a bandeau dress
The simplest variants to wear a sarong is probably as a bandeau dress. To do this, wrap the sarong around your body from the back under the armpits and tie the ends in front of your chest. Alternatively, you can tuck in the ends without knotting similar to a towel.
Sarong as halter neck dress
If you want to wear the sarong as a halter dress, put it behind your back as well and pull the ends forward under your armpits. Next, cross the two ends in front of the chest and then tie a tight knot at the nape of the neck. For a little extravagance, you can also twist the ends cord style before knotting them together.
Sarong as a toga
You can get a slightly more complicated, but unusual wearing style if you wrap and tie the sarong asymmetrically. To do this, wrap it once around the body and pass one corner under the armpit up the front to the shoulder. The other end is also pulled to the shoulder at the back and knotted together there.
Sarong as a skirt
You can wear the sarong as a skirt, for example, if you want to show your bikini top or combine a top with it. Again, there are different ways to wear it: short or long, hip or waist. If you want to wear the sarong as a waist skirt, put it around your hips and tie it in the middle at belly button level. Worn on the hip, you should tie it on the side of the hip bone. For a short skirt, simply fold the sarong once.
Be sure to pack a sarong in your vacation suitcase. Sarongs are versatile outfits that can be worn at the beach, pool or anywhere else you want to feel comfortable. Made of light and airy materials, a sarong covers the body while subtly showing off swimwear underneath. Particularly practical: Some models are designed in such a way that wrapping and tying is made easier, for example, with sewn-on straps. Wrap it up!
