This ghd styler is for use only as a hairstyling aid, and only with products specifically designed for use with a heated hairstyling aid such as a ghd heat mat. Handling your ghd styler The ghd styler contains high-tech, sensitive components therefore please ensure that the product is not dropped. Do not insert foreign objects, paint, burn or disassemble your ghd styler. Do not use your ghd styler if it has been damaged – for example if the styler casing is cracked. If your product is damaged through misuse or abuse, this will not be covered under your guarantee. This does not affect your statutory rights. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved, by a person responsible for their safety. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. BURN HAZARD: Keep appliance out of reach from children, particularly during use and during cool down after use. Never leave the appliance unattended. The ghd styler is not suitable for use with synthetic hair. It is possible that colour may permanently transfer onto the styler if used on dyed hair. warning: keep away from water When the appliance is used in a bathroom, unplug it after use since the proximity of water presents a hazard even when the appliance is switched off; for additional protection, the installation of a residual current device (RCD) having a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA is advisable in the electrical circuit supplying the bathroom. Do not spray or apply wet styling aids directly onto the ghd styler. warning: electricity As with most electrical appliances, electrical parts are electrically live even when the switch is off. To reduce the risk of electrocution: Never operate this appliance if it is not working properly, or if it has a damaged charging cable or charger. 1. Only use with 100–240V, 50-60 Hz power supply for the charger. 2. The appliance should never be left unattended when plugged in and charging. 3. Always unplug the ghd unplugged styler and charger immediately after completing charging. warning: hot surfaces The ghd styler heater plates are hot for effective styling. To reduce the risk of burns: 1. NEVER touch the styler heater plates. 2. Avoid holding or touching the styler beyond the raised finger guard. 3. When not styling always lay the ghd styler on a flat heat-resistant surface such as a ghd styler heat mat. 4. When styling is complete, always switch off the ghd unplugged styler and replace in the heat resistant carry case. 5. Always place the appliance with the stand, if any, on a heat-resistant, stable flat surface. Your ghd styler is not only attractive to you, but also to your children. Please ensure you always store your ghd styler out of reach of children, particularly during use, especially when cooling. For safe cooling, you can place the unit back into its heat resistant carry case. charging For the quickest and most effective charging, always use the ghd supplied charger and USB-C cable. 1. For optimum usage the ghd unplugged styler should be fully charged before use – this will take no more than two hours. 2. Ensure the ghd unplugged styler is switched off before charging. 3. Plug the charger into the wall outlet, connect the USB-C cable between the charger and the ghd unplugged styler, and turn on the mains power at the wall. 4. Charge the ghd unplugged styler until all five battery charge lights are illuminated and stop flashing. 5. The ghd unplugged styler may get warm to the touch while charging – this is normal. 6. Once charging is complete, disconnect the ghd unplugged styler from the USB-C cable and enjoy styling cord-free. IMPORTANT NOTE: The ghd unplugged styler cannot be used while it is charging, unplug from the charger and then follow the operation instructions. IMPORTANT NOTE: Use the charger provided for optimal charging. operation Ensure that hair is completely dry before using the ghd unplugged styler appliance. 1. For optimum use, ensure the unit is fully charged. 2. To turn on the ghd unplugged styler, slide the ON/OFF switch into the ON position. The ghd unplugged styler will play a short start-up tune and a light around the switch will pulse to indicate that the styler is heating up. 3. IMPORTANT: the ghd unplugged styler reaches the required temperature in seconds, so be careful not to touch the heater plates. 4. Once the ghd unplugged styler has reached temperature, it will bleep and the light around the switch will stop pulsing and will remain illuminated to indicate that it is ready to use. TOP TIP: Using your ghd styler on your hair before it has reached it’s operating temperature may result in the battery charge being used at a faster rate than expected. 5. The battery charge level will slowly reduce as you use the product – when there is 15% charge left the last light with start to flash and and audible beep will sound. 6. When you have finished your styling session, slide the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. Once turned OFF, the ghd unplugged styler can be placed directly into the heat-resistant carry case for cooling and transport. TOP TIP: If your ghd unplugged styler does not start heating up as expected switch the unit OFF and then switch ON again to re-start. on the go Your ghd unplugged styler is small and light and is perfect for taking with you wherever you go. 1. The carry case is padded and heat-resistant which will allow safe and compact transport of your ghd unplugged styler. 2. There is space in the case for your styler and a USB-C cable which gives greater freedom to charge your product wherever a USB-C socket is provided. i.e. car, trains, hotels, phone charging point etc. NOTE: some USB-C outlets may not deliver the full power of the supplied ghd charger so charging times may increase. 3. For optimum charging, always use the supplied ghd charger and USB-C cable. 4. Traveling: in advanced to flying, please contact your airline for guidance on how to travel with your ghd unplugged. the ghd styler has the following safety features: 1. Auto Shutdown: if the ghd unplugged styler has been left on and has not been used for more than three minutes, a safety feature will automatically turn the styler off. The styler will play the two tone shut-down tune, the heating plates will start to cool. To re-start the ghd unplugged when it has shut down, simply switch the unit OFF and ON again until the start-up tune sounds. 2. Protect Mode: the ghd unplugged styler is not designed for intense professional use such as continuous charging and styling. In such cases for safety the heaters will turn off, the ghd unplugged styler will emit a bleep and the light will flash white every five seconds. If this occurs switch OFF and switch ON to restart. 3. Fail safe: in the unlikely event of a control system error, for safety the heaters will turn off, the ghd styler will emit rapid bleeps and the light will flash red every 5 seconds. If this occurs switch off the ghd styler and re-start. If the unit does not re-start or the problem persists, contact ghd Customer Service for advice.
