Retinol is an extremely effective and powerful anti-aging ingredient. Mild redness, a warm, tingling sensation, or skin flaking may occur at the beginning and are normal and temporary signs that the product is working.

• If you experience increased side effects while using Clinique Smart Night Clinical MD Multi-Dimensional Repair Treatment Retinol, you should reduce use to every other night until your skin adjusts. This adjustment period can take up to 4 weeks.
• First-time users and people with very dry skin should use the product only every other night for two weeks to allow the skin to adjust. For more intensive care, use a mild cleanser and then apply a moisturizer.
• While using this product, you should greatly reduce the amount of time you expose your skin to the sun. Be sure to apply sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher during the day while using the product and for one week after discontinuing use. Keep in mind that extreme weather conditions such as wind or cold can irritate the skin more, so take appropriate precautions to protect your face.

After cleansing, apply a pea-sized amount to the skin, massaging it in and avoiding the eye area. Tip: Use every other night for the first two weeks, then every night. Use sunscreen and reduce the amount of time you expose your skin to the sun during use and for a week afterwards.
