Use
Your Diptyque candle is an exceptional handcrafted creation and deserves the utmost care. Here are some tips to maximize its lifespan and enjoy it safely.
Prepare the location
Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface.
Protect delicate materials such as wood or marble with a candle holder or tray.
Keep candles away from flammable materials.
Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
Choose a sufficiently large room or burn the candle outdoors.
Lighting the candle
We recommend lighting your candle with a match to avoid burns.
When lighting the candle for the first time, let it burn until an even layer of liquid wax has formed (approx. 4 hours, depending on the scent). This prevents the formation of a tunnel in the wax and allows the wicks to properly absorb the wax, ensuring even burning. When first lit, the wicks may produce a small amount of smoke.
While burning
After the first lighting, do not let the candle burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Do not move a burning candle or a candle that is still hot but not burning.
Keep it away from drafts.
Leave at least 10 cm of space between two candles.
After each use
Extinguishing the flame: Use a candle snuffer to avoid hot wax splatters.
Recenter the wick as soon as the candle has gone out.
Before relighting your candle, trim the wick with wick trimmers (ideal length: 3 to 5 mm) to prevent fire hazards.
Final Note
Do not use your candle once only 5 mm of wax remains or the metal wick holder becomes visible.
Aftercare & Storage
We recommend ventilating the room after burning a candle.
Allow the wax to cool completely before moving your candle.
Store it in a dry, temperate place (15 °C–25 °C / 59 °F–77 °F) and away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration, changes in pigment, or the wax from peeling off.
