Jacques Guerlain was a great opera lover and consequently fell under the spell of Puccini's Turandot. Liu's charm is irresistible, for she is as beautiful as she is heroic. This poetic fragrance is dedicated to her, in which aldehydes play a particularly remarkable role. They dominate the top notes and, like cymbals, herald the arrival of rose and jasmine, which interpret their sensual melody with bravura. Like a musical masterpiece, the fragrance fades away calmly and pleasurably. This is achieved by the tangible accents of vanilla, which quickly harmonize with hints of wood.
The iconic bottle designed by George Chevalier with its inverted heart shows the graceful swirls that are so characteristic of Art Nouveau. The avant-garde cap in the shape of a hollowed-out heart was considered a technical masterpiece at the time and reflects the understated romance of this icon of perfume artistry.
