Description
Mitsouko is part of GUERLAIN's collection of legendary fragrances. This collection celebrates the heritage of the House with legendary fragrances created by five generations of GUERLAIN perfumers over more than a century. It includes cult perfumes that were groundbreaking for their era. They represent a unique repertoire of fragrances, an incomparable and unsurpassed treasure that the House of GUERLAIN seeks to preserve and continue.
With his creation "Mitsouko," Jacques Guerlain paid homage to the heroine of the bestseller of the time, "The Marquise Yorisaka." Mitsouko, a beautiful Japanese woman, is married and secretly in love with a British officer. Then, in 1905, war breaks out between Japan and Russia. Mitsouko waits dignifiedly for the outcome of the battle, while trying to suppress her feelings.
Jacques Guerlain had the incredible idea of combining a chypre fragrance with a fruity note such as peach, giving the fragrance an incredibly modern feel.
The iconic bottle designed by Raymond Guerlain with its inverted heart features the graceful edges so characteristic of Art Nouveau. The avant-garde cap in the shape of a hollowed-out heart was considered a technical masterpiece at the time and reflects the understated romance of this icon of perfumery.
