To evoke the prestige of 37 RUE DE BELLECHASSE, perfumers Cécile Matton and Julie Massé selected elemi, a rare, precious resin from the Philippines that has been burned as incense for centuries. Elemi combines citrus freshness and woody depth to create a multifaceted, spicy fragrance. Although high fashion has replaced religious ceremonies at 37 RUE DE BELLECHASSE, the scent references the building's former vocation with a hint of incense. The absolute luxury of precious oud wood contributes to the dark and mysterious atmosphere of the eau de parfum. Founded in the 13th century and rebuilt in the 18th century in the heart of the aristocratic Faubourg Saint-Germain, the Cistercian Abbey of Penthemont once served as a culturally vibrant retreat for ladies of the French nobility (Joséphine de Beauharnais lived there for a time). After three years of careful restoration, taking into account the building's rich cultural heritage, the historic monument in the 7th arrondissement became the headquarters of the House of Saint Laurent in 2018.
