Description
The god FAVONIUS (one of the Roman wind gods) loved Flora, the goddess of flowers, so much that he turned himself into a rose because the goddess had no interest in anything other than flowers. When Flora saw the rose, she kissed it, fulfilling Favonius' wish. And it is said that the word "rose" itself originated when Flora, in pain after being struck by Cupid's arrow, was unable to pronounce the word Eros correctly, instead making it sound like "ros." Thus, the word "rose" became synonymous with Eros; in both Rome and Greece, it is the symbol of youth, vitality, love, beauty, and the fertility of nature.
