Place the brush at the root of the lashes on the upper eyelid, with the widest part of the brush pointing toward the outer lashes. Close your eyes during each application and apply mascara from the roots to the tips (using a zigzag motion) to coat and separate the lashes. Then rotate the brush to work on the other eye, with the longest bristles again pointing toward the outer corner of the eye.

You can also use the first (thinner) half of the brush to apply mascara to the lower lashes.
