The Danish designers, Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave, founded BAUM UND PFERDGARTEN in 1999. The brand name is composed of the surnames of the two founders. This synergy can also be seen in the mix of colors and patterns in the collection. Rikke and Helle met while studying at the "Designskole" in Copenhagen and designed their first garments together in Helle's kitchen.

After just one year, they received their first award from the Danish fashion magazine "Alt for damerne".
