A tuxedo consists of a tuxedo jacket, tuxedo trousers and a tuxedo shirt. The color of a classic tuxedo jacket is black or dark blue. Both the single-breasted and double-breasted tuxedo jackets do not have a back vent. Furthermore, the classic single-breasted version has only one closing button. Modern tuxedo variants can also have two closing buttons, but in company only the upper one is always closed. A classic black tuxedo is an alternative to the classic men's suit for festive occasions.
The lapel collar of the tuxedo jackets is often trimmed with silk faille or silk satin.
